as for elise vs coupe, keep in mind that the standard lotus only has 118hp. light weight helps up to 60-70mph, after that it's all over. the 190hp versions are another story, and my s190 elise is faster than my '01 M coupe in most situations (the M has a top speed advantage, but i haven't been on a track where that can be used. the ring would certainly be such a place). IMO they are VERY different cars, and it's difficult to compare them. everybody should just get one of each ;)
