it stands to be quite informative to me because i also live at the saabnet.com bulletin board and tire of hearing of how turbo motors spool up faster in the midrange. clearly, looking at the viggen specs, the accelerative capacity is mediocre at best.

you're absolutely right about gearing, too, but again, in the class of car listed there, the gearing is not all that different.

i mean, it would be more informative to also, for example, post the lap times for cars as driven by test drivers on the nurburgring. that would be quite informative. but i think the straightline stuff is fun to peruse.
