If I look at the Z8 and the price (expected price) all I think is "this car is way overrated"....But that's just my opinion, so no flame please...!
The interior is a disaster ! Just look at the Mercedes SLR...that's art, looks great and is useful (if the SLR goes in production the Z8 is toast).
The Z8 interior looks cheap and what's up with those gauges in the middle (nonsens, what a marketing gimmick by BMW, what are they trying to show with that ???? ).
BMW is keeping the numbers low to give the Z8 'that special image', so they can justify the price.
The idea of a 'Z8' was great in the beginning. Creating a good looking powerful roadster which could compete with Ferrari...etc...and look what happened, they created a ugly, cheap looking but probably overpriced car.
They keep saying that they build the car based on the looks of the famous 507 ! Come on give me a break ..the 507 looks great the Z8 doesn't. Even if there are similarities with the 507, there is a fine line between creating beauty and such thing as the Z8. And worse (for BMW), the much cheaper Z3 looks way better than a Z8.
Way paying over $120k for a car with a M5 engine (by the way the M5 is art) misplaced gauges, cheap interior and a look with no identity when you could have much better cars in that price class.
I rather buy a Porsche Turbo or a Ferrari Modena than a Z8...they have style and have value.

: I have no doubt that the z8 will be a classic. I also have no doubt as to the value of the car. Those of us who were lucky enough to put a deposit down will in fact be able to make money on the car. I had an f355 f1 spyder, drove it for 6 months and then made $15000 on it when I sold it back to a dealer. There's a huge market for flipping cars that are coming in such small numbers with so much demand. This will be especially true of the z8. I would not be surprised if my dealer offered me $20,000+ just to flip it.
