: For the month of Feb. BMW has brought 30 Z8s to the Los Angeles area for a rather large group of international journalists to conduct various driving tests. I just got back from one of the test site locations where i spent some time talking to a builder of the original Z8 prototypes. His take on the forthcoming M3 is that it will have 350hp, 6spd manual, and 3.3 or 3.4 liters. In addition, he claimed that it should arrive on our shores during the fourth quarter of 2000; European release should be sometime during the summer.

: p.s. One of the German journalists crashed a silver Z8 this afternoon in the rain. He basically smashed the driver's side rear quarter into a telephone/electric pole while going from the straight-away to the slollom course. I could not get close enough to see too clearly but it appeared that he may have snapped the axle as well. He may have been going well over a 100mph.

: The Z8 is one awesome car. But IMO not worth 125k.
