: : I ordered a Z8 in 1997 through my dealership in Bryan, Tx. To date I have had one offer from another buyer at 30K above retail, for the rights to the car.
: : Was not interested. I plunked down 5k in '97 when the order was placed, because I believed this car was special and nothing I have read or seen convinces me otherwise.
: : The only problem is, no news has been released on the delivery of the car. I hope we get it before christmas.

:
: I live in Bryan myself. I would not count on Fred Brown getting a Z8, sorry, they are not a big enough dealership. The first ones were supposed to be delivered in late April/early May but I also hear that was delayed but not sure how much. I had a dealer (not Fred Brown) do a national locate on all Z8s in production in March and there were 52 cars in various stages of production (or staged for production) but none were done or shipped. Some of those cars WERE in production, so some of the first Z8s bound for the US finished assembly in late March.

: I hope you get one but don't count on it. Can I get a ride if you do? :-)

thanks for the comment. However this is a done deal. I paid BMW AG the deposit directly and I have a contract. I flew to the frankfurt auto show and was given a private demonstration of the Z8 by the Design staff.
To date none have been shipped. I am not sure what the delay is, but we are waiting.
If you would like a ride, no problem.
