BMW sometimes monitors this Forum and may try to help if you if they see you post about a problem.
BMW already has your PERSONAL VEHICLE OWNERSHIP and FINANCIAL RECORDS in their databases because you bought a car from them, and they can look at this information any time they choose to.
Posting public information about yourself gives anyone in the world the right to read that information.
Luckily, BMW sometimes matches up car descriptions and email addresses of owners who have posted complaints with the information BMW already has in their database. BMW them sometimes contacts those owners to help them out!
As for the previous poster who said that not providing any such information is "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"...how much of a recommendation are you willing to take from a completely anonymous poster?
I for one am happy to see a car manufacturer being proactive about helping its enthusiasts.
In other words...find something more important to worry about.
