What is the story on the Nav and radio?

Mainly? "Form does not follow function ;-)

Does it come with cd or changer?

Changer

What type of Nav is in it?

Philips CarIn, AFAIK

Is the radio a good one?

Not really state-of-the-art, but quite a good one. Additionally, they built in an automatic equalizer which detects if the top is closed or opened and accordingly changes the characteristics of the sound system (which does have excellent amplifiers and speakers)

It does not appear to have a large color screen only a small one by the radio.

Correct. The MIR (multi-information-radio) comes from the old 3 series (E36). Actually I whish they could change that to the latest model of the VDO Dayton (follow the link and chose the MS 6000) system which has a very nice 16:9 widescreen monitor and electrically moves out of the radio when it is in use. verrrry fancy, James Bond would love that one.

Does it mainly work through voice?

Nope. AFAIK it comes with the cell phone Motorola V3688 which is no longer produced for the retail market. The latest model from Motorola is the 3690 which is voice-controlled anyway. Again, could have been quite a useful feature for no or almost no extra cost.

I wish BMW didn't put such a fancy looking site for the z8 but one with more info. My dealer doesn't know as much as I do.

No surprise at all. It's a shame but you hardly ever get reliable and up-to-date-information from your dealer and even from the BMW guys. I had to spend two whole days just to find someone who could give me a simple information about the hifi-system of the X5, and even the informations coming from BMW Munich where different...

Don't hesitate to ask, I actually have two broschures on hand with the latest details on the Z8. Sometimes I may not be able to translate it on-the-fly, but at least I'll do my very best ;-)

cu, tg
