Robert Fassl, German test driver for BMW and instructor at the BMW International Driving School probably has logged the most laps in the Z8 at the 'Ring. Last year at the school he told me that the M Coupe is the fastest stock BMW at the 'Ring, beating the M5 and the Z8. Allegedly, the M Coupe had the production car track record briefly until the Porsche GTS 3 came out. I'm sure that the new Turbo's even faster. I think us Z8 owners will have to be satisfied with owning the fastest convertible at the 'Ring.


Why dont you stop making things up. Car and driver says that the z8 is 12 seconds faster than the m5, which happens to be faster than the M coupe. Although I have not read a test vs the regular 996, I suspect thats because its not even close (i had one its far from a racer). The 996tt probably is faster but the z8 is not the same type of car (also its not a convertible). I dont know where you get your car info but its wrong.


The 996tt beat the Z8 by 22 secs on the Nuerburgring Nordschleife. In fact, the non turbo 996 beat the Z8's time. In fact the M coupe beat the Z8's time. Are we concerned?
