I doubt it was a retail model, if your friend was correct in the first place. We know there are several of the "demonstrators" in the US. A blue one has been garaged in Santa Monica for four months.

As of this morning, there were no instructions issued to the Oxnard VPC to release/ship any of the 14 Z8s they have received.

If anyone has any other information about retail cars being released, we would all like to hear about it.
