I'm surpised that with the large number of posts this message has generated no one has brought up the fact that there is a HUGE chance that this is just a scam.

a) Why doesn't he give the name of the dealership
b) Why does he only give his home and cell number
c) Why does he require a deposit when it would be quite easy for him to check the account balance of interested buyers (just like a real estate agency does)

Best case scenario is that this guy is hoping that he can use the deposits to purchase a Z8 at a price closer to the MSRP and then deliver on his promise. And even if he can't and decides to return the money (and not move to a non-extradition country with it) he'll still make several thousand dollars off the interest.
