As taxes go, there are several ways to avoid both VAT within Europe, and later local sales taxes in the States in car acquisition/import process. All it takes is time synchronization in following the exemption sales tax laws in your state for a specific time, and simply removing the car from Europe within six months. Now apparently the gray market is growing again in US due to excessive/specualative US asking prices for i.e. a 360, which in Europe is significantly cheaper and not all that expensive to comform to local standards. But its really best to get an airplane and not deal with drunken traffic.
