The manual is unrevealing...on page 64 it says...

Whenever required, the system can be switched from sporty-comfortable--based on what the driver is demanding in terms of vehicle performance via the accelerator pedal--to a purely sports oriented response. This means that the switchover is spontaneous and in response to the demands made on the system through the accelerator pedal (detecting the sports mode)

I'm not clear what the above means...I presume that when you are heavy on the throttle, it goes into sports mode...but that still doesn't answer my original question!
