Thomas,
The American market obviously defies European comprehension. Many are willing to pay over MSRP for cars in demand, with short supply, and Gray market cars are worth less than their counterpart cars imported by the manufacturer. As to what is an original, since 60% of BMW “M” production is sold in the USA, most of the design considerations are now driven by the American market, not the European one.

Oh BTW, supply of Z8s in the US will increase by 50-100% next year (you heard it here first) at the expense of the rest of the world’s markets including Germany. No increase in production, just a reallocation from places that sell at or below MSRP to the HOT market for Z8s. :-)

Bob

If you are planning to trade it in 3 years from now

the warranty is over anyway so at tis time it is not an issue any longer.

the resale value will not please you.

Looking at supercars, I really would not expect any significant difference between grey or not. A Ferrari is a Ferrari is a Ferrari... and so on. Besides, if you get a European car in original European condition, it is even more the original and therefore has to be more expensive ;-)

cu, tg
