I now have confirmation from two internal sources at BMW that the allocation for Z8s to the USA market will be increased between 50% to 100% during 2001. This will be at the expense of the rest of the world’s markets. No increase in total production of cars, but a reallocation to the hottest market for the car.

If you are paying over $200K for the car, Caveat Emptor!

Bob

We have heard stories of Canadian cars being sold into the US by dealers in Canada, which is a big no-no up here. This got the dealers into trouble with BMW in Germany and may have had some influence on this latest change in allocations. The allocations for Canada are probably reduced as a result, as you allude to.
