Even though you can guess I drive the car HARD, I have not used any oil. The windscreen sticker that tells me I'm driving an M5 (sic) tells me I will use oil, but ...... none yet.

Bob, do you have a BMW TIS CD. I have one that relates to a problem with noise on start up to do with the Vanos being out of oil. It reads....

"Only in the instant of severe customer disatifaction should you install the pre charge pump" I spoke to BMW about this, who said this was for the older M5 cars with this engine? Any way you can find out if your car has this Vanos Pre charge pump?

The noise I am talking about is LOUD at startup. Even to the point of making people comment. Maybe BMW fitted this pump to the US cars.

No rush for any info....3 years warranty as standard here, and that reminds me...BMW tell me that if I crash it, it MUST go back to Munich for repair. Apparently, this is keeping insurance premiums very high for this car!
