I merely asked a question about why someone would buy a Z8 when there are superior cars out there for around the same price.

Right there youre wrong. I bolded where you are wrong. Superior in what sense? In terms of magazine reviewers? Well, thanks but they dont live with these cars. In terms of pure performance the Ferrari is definately better. However, there are other attributes- some people might not like the 360 styling. I actually think its the best looking Ferrari currently out but Im not really in love with it. Thats not a knock on their styling, its just that it doesnt appeal to me. When you make these kinds of cars they will appeal to different people differently.

You also said "I merely asked a question..." Of course thats fine, but asking a question like that here makes one think youre merely being a troublemaker- now you can say "I merely asked a question" If I asked the same question on the ferrari board I might get this response:

"they both offer different virtues. this has been covered already." Which is what I wrote. I admit my line "so with all due respect go out and buy one." was inflamatory so I apologize for that. However, my point was not to be inflamatory, it was to say- look we all know these are all fantastic cars, so why bother with the discussion here since the way its prhased is a bit inflamatory ("superior cars") so just go buy one or the other and enjoy it. If you were asking out of simple intellectual curiosity you shouldnt use phrases that are conclusive since that denotes you've already made up your mind.

I know the 360 is a bit more, but if you can't afford a 360, you can't afford a Z8.

True and if you want to be fair you really have to compare 360 Spyder which is just coming out here- which makes the 360 even more pricy but still when you compare it to the market price of the Z8 they are close enough.

If you were to compare the 360 and Z8 just based on looks, I'd say 99 out of 100 would choose the 360.

With that in mind, I was in the parking lot a couple of weeks ago with a 360 hardtop and a Z8 and most people fell over the Z8. I was a bit surprised also. Got the chance to drive both. I discovered that while the Ferrari has somewhat higher performance capabilities- especially handling, it tires the driver out. The Z8 refreshes the driver.

Also, the 360 is a better performer and without a doubt, more bang for your buck. And at no point did I say I can or cannot afford either. So maybe you should put your brain where your head is, cause it's obviously somewhere else.

Its interesting- you take reasoned positions and then you end with this childish retort. In doing so you undermine your credibility. Taking your last phrase "you should put your brain where your head is"- thats one of my greatest strengths- to have my head and brain in different locations! this doesnt make sense! geez- if youre going to try to insult me, please have the intelligence to do it with something that makes sense.

Ive driven the following cars:
Ferrari F40
Acura NSX
Ferrari 355
Ferrari 308
Ferrari 360 hartop
BMW M5
BMW M3
BMW Z8
BMW M Roadster
BMW M Coupe
Mercedes Benz CLK 420
Mercedes Benz SLK (forget the designation)
Mercedes Benz E55

this is in addition to more typical cars such as toyotas and hondas. So there is my credibility.

I will now repeat what I said above.

they both offer different virtues. this has been covered already. having driven both (hardtop 360) Id take the Z8.

Thats just one persons opinion. You asked the question - you got the answer, with all due respect of course :D
