Just spoke to a friend of mine who works for L'Automobile magazine in France, one of their premier monthly magazines.
They did a performance review of the Z8 and had very disappointing things to say, specifically:
1) The car does not appear as if it were built to "drive" - it is better as an investment
2) Despite the 400HP power, the car has very little soul...very predictable, almost muted driving excitement
3) Similar to the 850, the car has a bit of an identity crisis: it's not in the GT league of Aston Martin, nor in the true sportscar league of Ferrari..but the price and engine numbers would suggest at least one of the two.
4) Very good in concept, less sensible in executionOh, well. I have found that Europeans are much more critical in understanding the purpose of a car than Americans. We seem to be more able to forgive such "issues" if badge value and "perception" are sufficiently strong. I guess I can see their point...
