I don't think so, it's just a different viewpoint. I think the author purposely dismissed the fact that he was driving a BMW which is SUPPOSED to be an "ultimate driving machine" and just took the car for it was worth, given cost and experience with competitive cars. It was a 3 day test, so I don't think he arrived at conclusions too prematurely. However, personal taste is personal taste and it's hard to take the true Ferrari or Porsche afficionado and have him be convinced that a BMW will give him the same delights, especially after the company has spent decades refining its work as the leading maker of quality 4-door (for the most part) sedan cars.
