Is there a way to remove the electronic limiters from the newer BMW's? Why are some cars not limited?

Yes, GTOWN, the top speed limits can be programmed out via aftermarket software downloads (Dinan, Jim Conforti, etc.).

Where are you hearing $300K and 128 mph? I would be happy to sell you a Z8 for $175K. And the electronically limited top speed is 155 mph, same as the M5.

'00 M5 (still with stock programming, and 155 mph is pretty fast, even here in the middle of the desert)
'88 M3 (Jim Conforti-chipped, no top speed limiter, but it aint going to get to 155 mph anyway)
