How many of you guys have lived with a rare BMW before? I am a visitor from the e31 board, and I was just over here out of curiosity to see what you guys are talking about. The things that you are talking about aren't 1/10th of the issues that you have with an 850. It goes with the territory. And when the cars become older than 5 years, it becomes a hobby to sort out the little problems. Some parts and tools are unavailable, and BMW is unwilling to help, so the e31 board has formed collectives to manufacture and distribute special tools such as the headlight adjusters. The fact is that you can't have advanced technology and limited production without problems.

Here's what's up: BMW has made their mass production cars soo good that their service guys spend 80% of their time dealing with oil service and minor fixes. The 8-series, Z8's, and ///M5's are so far and few, that it's not the daily drill for them. Back in the Motherland, they don't document the development of these cars in a manner that can be shared with the general public. They put the little 100 page book in the glove box, but to cover it, you would need a 500 page 3-ring binder. You guys should be reveling in the fact that you have Z8's in posession, and that they have so few problems for a limited production exotic car.
