I dont want you to get the idea that Im ignoring the other fine cars out there but I think youre missing a few facts.

* the Z8 is indeed hand built (it takes something like 10x the amount of time to build a Z8 as it does to build a 3 series)

* the Z8 is being produced in ultra exclusive numbers- that below most Porsches and Ferraris

* the Z8 is one of a few cars that uses an all aluminum frame to save weight and add rigidity

* even though its a convertible it has the chassis rigidity of a good sedan (to me it seems just as rigid as a 5 series)

* maintence on the Z8 is ultra customer friendly (it should be!) basically you dont need a service appointment- you can just show up- not that I advise this- IMO its not right to do this to the service people at the dealer, but instead of hearing that the service slots are all booked, one can make an appointment for the next day or two and usually get in.

Its interesting that the two cars brought up here are McLaren and RR. The RR is supposed to be the ultimate in luxury and the McLaren is a race car that can run on the street. The Z8 is actually a mix of the two. Its personality is more street car than race car- and it has a lot of luxury- but Im sure it could hold its own on a track.
