A bulletin has been released from the factory stating the following: The rear window of the Z8 has a milky appearance. This is normal and the window should not be replaced for this reason. The material which the window is made from is more scratch resistant than windows in other BMW convertibles. But the tradeoff is the milky white color that appears in the window.

So, we can't have our cake and eat it too.
