a limited edition is any product that doesnt have an open produciton run- hence its limited. I have read and heard that the production for the Z8 is anywhere between 3-8000 cars. While many have speculated that if BMW sells them at a torrid pace they will make more, I doubt it. That is because the machine tools needed to make these cars will be worn down by the time they end their production run. You might say that 8000 is too many to call it limited, but techinally it is limited and when you consider that number over 3 or 4 years of production as well as aggregate, it really is a small number of cars.
