So, I think young people might dig the Ferrari, but older people might love the Z8.
Not necessarily. I'm 30 and just got my Z8 on Saturday. It was between a Ferrari 550 Maranello and the Z8. I choose the Z8 because I loved everything about it...just as I did the Ferrari BUT I felt the BMW was the type of car I could live with on a day-to-day basis. With really nice cars you run into jealous people who do really malicious things ie. key your car while parked in the movie parking lot. I've owned a '95 BMW M3,'97 Porsche Twin Turbo, and a '98 AMG Mercedes SL 600 and these incidents do happen. While I have never owned a Ferrari, it's my feeling that a lot of people resent Ferrari owners because they believe these people screwed a lot of other people out of their hard earned money so they could afford such an expensive car--and they sometimes act on these feelings. So, while the BMW Z8 is really nice and car enthusiast know and appreciate what it is...the average guy on the street won't (like they automatically do with a Ferrari). In short, I guess I felt less pretentious and less conspicuous driving the Z8. On the East coast this is not a bad thing--even at 30 years old!
