You have to take into account diferent driving conditions on different continents and the impact that has on local tastes. What makes sense in the US does not make sense here and vice versa. Does a light sports car make sense off road in Alaska? Does a Suburban make sense in crowded London where you cannot park it and it costs $hundreds per week to run?

For the US which has lots of space, very few corners, cheap gas and long straight roads a very heavy car with limited handling like the Z makes more sense than here in europe. Here the emphasis is more on feel and handling responses and not cruising along in a straight line looking the part so therefore the media tends to reflect local tastes more. Cars like the Z8, Chevy Blazer and Ford Explorer suit their environment well and so are more appreciated in the US while being panned in europe. Conversely, cars like the Mondeo make a lot of sense over here while failing over there.

Remember, we are looking at the same thing through diferent eyes. If you lived over here you would probably like the Z8 less and if we lived over there we would probably like it more.
