Well, I am eagerly awaiting the phone upgrade kit, I never got a usable phone for the old system and now BMW has discontinued them :-(

BMW has introduced a new phone for Z8s built after 1/1/01. It is a Motorola Timeport digital CPT 8000. Lots of features. It is suppose to retro fit to earlier car but the kit isn't available at US dealers yet. All you early adapters check it out and post a review.
