Getting Mine Tomorrow ... embarrassing story (archive)

So I have been lurking on this site for some time ... thanks for all the info. I pick up mine tomorrow (silver/black, with apologies to z8bob, but I am in conservative new england).

Today I drove with the hard top on. It took three batteries jumping it to start it (it has been at the dealer for almost a MONTH with one mile on it) -- it was dead, dead, dead. On our test drive I stalled the engine -- we had to push to the side of the road and call BMW to service it. Quite a few eager fans were honking as they passed, and one guy nearly got clipped by a train he was staring so bad.

Questions: any recommendations on the two car covers? Has anyone any experience with the top rack or the top lift? Has anyone considered rewiring for the 8000 phone coming out?

After 5 miles I know I am going to love this car -- no 911 or ferrari for me.
