Despite the battery problem, which should have been checked by the dealer’s service department before they let the car out of their store, you will have a blast. If the car sat on the dealer’s floor for a month, I bet the top was raised and lowered dozens of times without the motor running. The owner’s manual, as one would expect, advises not to put the top up and down except with the motor running to conserve the battery.
If you love the car now, it will grow on you as you break the car in. A very unique car and ride. Most of us have already made the decision never to sell this car. I for one move through a lot of them, but this is a keeper.
I have been pursuing the adaptor kit for the 8000 phone. So far no luck. But I believe that it will only be a matter of time, since the new Z8s are going to be equipped to handle the 8000. The BMW 8000 does not yet have the color screen that the non-BMW Motorola models have. Looking into that too.
Bond drove a real Z8, though they only had one for the filming, when they were to have several. The car that was cut in half was a fiberglass shell on a corvette frame (source: H Fisker).
Have fun, keep those revs down for 1,200!!
