I would not even think of putting a "bra" on the car, and the clear plastic overlays have their drawbacks too. I have taken about 6 pinhead size chips in the front bumper area below the turn indicators. In each case my detailer has touched up the chips with a combination of the clear coat/color stick on a 1:2 ratio. He maintains that by making the fill paint slightly lighter it does not show. On silver it works great.

I have two small chips on top of the left front fender (the first on a aluminum part) 12" back from the headlights that I got driving the car up to have lunch with the car's designer, Henrik Fisker. Almost 200 miles round trip on LA Freeways. We're waiting for the weather to warm up so the paint will flow and set up. The chips did not penetrate the undercoat so there is no real hurry. The trip was worth it though, since I now have a "signed original" Z8.m :-)

Chips are inevitable. Driving at 100MPH+ even sand will pit the finish.

I could not help notice like in the case of Z8 Bob's car, no visible chips on the front of the car after 6month's plus of service.

Are you guys using anything in particular to prevent those annoying chips on the nose and other high impact areas of the Z8?
