Question for Z8 Laser detector users... (archive)

Today I was driving on a 2 lane road through a residential area, a black Z8 passed by, and when it passed by, my Valentine one signaled a rear laser alert. He was braking I believe, and when he stopped, the signal went away. There were no cops around. I have heard that the tailights, which I beleive are neon, set off laser detectors. For Z8 owners, do your tailights set off laser detectors, or was this just a fluke?
