As of now I think I may have this worked out. Z8 Bob helped me understand the procedure that should have been followed and was able to give me the part number. The selling dealer is now ordering the stand and cover for me, under warrantly. He did agree that it was standard equipmment eventhough BMWUSA apparently does not think so.

It appears that BMWUSA is the party at fault here. They have not been clear with their dealer network as to how the process works. I spoke to three dealers who all said the same thing. That is, that BMWUSA had told them that they (BMWUSA) would contact owners about the stands for card delivered with the tops.

I will say, that the dealer has been reasonable to work with. Especially if it goes as currently planned. However, the folks responding to the BMWUSA Owners Circle are absolutely useless. They were unable and apparently unwilling to help. A perfect example of customer service at its absolute worst.

At least I got the top. This could have been a lot worse.
