Thank you so much for taking the time to help me sort this thing out. I've never had such a hard time deciding what I wanted. At present, I think I'll probably pursue getting a Z8 at MSRP. If unsuccessful, I'll probably get the 911. It sounds as though I really can't make a bad decision on this one.
I currently drive an ///M roadster and am quite used to feeling like I am driving at the back of the car. It feels totally natural to me. I've also read on countless occasions about how the ///M roadster suspension leaves something to be desired relative to the Boxster. I bet that is the case at 10/10ths driving on a race track, but even given my very aggressive driving style on public roads, the ///M roadster has never failed me; rather it has always made me look far better the driver than I am. I must admit, the precise, instantaneous and communicative turn in of the 911 is really special, and if I go that route, I know that is one of the things I will most enjoy. But, if the Z8 truly does handle well, despite feeling a bit heavy, I think I'd rather go for the combination of knock your socks off beauty, grace and power.
Now comes the hard part....trying to get a Z8 at MSRP.
BTW, do you know anyone with the black/red combination who might be willing to give me some of their impressions? I can't seem to decide between silver/red or black/red.
Hi all:
I am currently trying to figure out what to do. I really want to purchase a Z8, but given the inflated prices, I started looking at the 911 cabriolets. At about 85K, they are pretty cool, it seems. I am a die hard BMW fanatic, however, and would have to go through some serious therapy before making the Porsche purchase. That said, I'm wondering if any of you have ever owned a 996 porsche 911, and if so whether you traded it in on a Z8. Did any of you consider the 911 when you purchased the Z8? If any of the above applies to you, what are your impressions regarding both cars: the pros, cons, and honest assessments.
Any advice you can deliver would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does anyone know whether BMW has decided to extend the run of Z8s past the four years originally planned?
