past, the best thing for any car's exterior or interior is keeping dirt off. Washing your car frequently or at least wiping regularly is the best thing you can do for the finish.
The wax will give you a protective coat but does not supersede washing.
It is best to wash the car frequently and wax periodically.
I personally wax twice a year. Some people with more time wax every quarter. It is best to wax in spring to get ready for the ravages of summer and wax in the fall to get ready for winter.
I wash my car twice/month. Others do it weekly. You have to consider how dirty the car is and your available.
If the car is garaged then the maintenance required is even less, since the elements do not ravage the finish as much.
Good Luck and enjoy your car. Watch out for paint chips...leave lots of room up front when following :).

Now that I have my baby, I want to make sure that it stays beautiful for years to come. Does anyone have any products they can recommend? My car is Silver/Black.

I have used many products before on previous cars (Zymol, Meguires, Mothers), and have also heard a product called Zaino (no experience with it). I also know that there are BMW specific products, but have never used them.

Based on the paint that BMW uses on the Z8, how often can you wax/polish it, without damaging the car?

Any suggestions on exterior & interior care products?
