I must have the correct wiring as once you "force" the 8000 in the cradle the phone fuctions properly with the Nav/Radio. My dealer has talked with BMW and we do not have a good answer yet. Will keep you posted with any info I receive.
My deale saidthey are waiting for a software upgrade (due momentarily:))to make it all work but I have never been abe to fit the 8000 phone in the cradle....bummer or should I say Bimmer?

This is the same problem I just had! I took my car in yesterday to get the battery issue fixed (which really is the cell phone draining the battery). They told me that I had a 7000 series wiring harness and cradle. The phone I received was the 8000 series phone. Will BMW replace the old 7000 wiring with the new 8000 to match the phone that they sent me? Or am I stuck downgrading the phone at my cost or upgrading the wiring at my cost? Seems a little weird to me that this is so screwed up...

Any comments would be helpful as the dealer didn't know what to do and was going to do some research for me.

Per an earlier post I recently took delivery of Z8 with the new CPT 8000 telephone. However this phone does not fit properly in the console cradel. After alerting the dealer of this they now tell me the correct phone is the older model CPT 7000. It seems that I have read on this board that recent Z8 deliveries have the new 8000 model. Can anyone confirm this? Also what is the main difference between the two models? Thanks
