CPT 8000 is silver phone
CPT 7000 is black phone
A memo from BMW dated 2/01 stated Z-8's will not be equipped with CPT 8000 phones until April. Look at the eject box where the phone connects - they are marked with red dot. The phone is dispensed from the dealers part department depending on your cellular carrier- they do not come with the car from the factory. Hope this helps!

lists a 'digital telephone' and does not specify the mode.
I have had no problems with the phone, but am having my dealer confirm just to be sure.
BMW has recently advised dealers in a Service Bulletin to NOT plug in a CPT 8000 phone into a vehicle equipeed for a CPT 7000 phone. Please check your monroney sticker to see if your vehicle is pre-wired for 7000 or 8000 series. We have delivered 2 Z-8's this last week and both were CPY 7000 compatible vehicles.

car came with cpt 8000. It is also known as the motorola timeport. Am unfamiliar with the cpt7000 phone.
Per an earlier post I recently took delivery of Z8 with the new CPT 8000 telephone. However this phone does not fit properly in the console cradel. After alerting the dealer of this they now tell me the correct phone is the older model CPT 7000. It seems that I have read on this board that recent Z8 deliveries have the new 8000 model. Can anyone confirm this? Also what is the main difference between the two models? Thanks
