I live in texas and the law does require a front plate.
I have three cars with no front plates including the Z8. The cop was being a hardass. The ticket is a non-moving violation (at least it should be). In texas it is about $25 when I last checked.
If I ever get a ticket for that (which I never have, as Benjy stated there are more pressing laws needing enforcement), I will probably temporarily affix the plate to have it dismissed, or just pay the fine.
Anyhow, it is not a big deal. Sorry to hear about your mishap.

I have got ticket for no front plate the day before yesterday... What a miserable week.... Broke bumper and also ticket.....

I don't know how the California law exactly read. But anyway I got ticket for that. I have plastic bracket for front plate but I have difficulty to figure out how to attach it to my Z8........ I appreciate if someone has photo or something of Z8 with front plate mounting part....

I gotta do this within 21 days.....
